StrongLifts 5x5. (1-3 months)
This is the program I started with when first getting into the gym. Take advantage of your free personal trainer session when you sign up to the gym to practice your barbell exercises (squat, bench press, dead lift and overhead press). This program got me strong quick and gave me some muscle bulk.

GreySkull LP. (3-6 months)
As stronglifts is a linear program, eventually you'll need to add accessory lifts to your program. This is where I learnt to do that. I used to default program and experimented with what I liked. I always aimed in increase my main lifts week by week.
This program gave me alot of definition and made me look great.

5/3/1 Boring But Big (BBB) - (6 months onwards)
Easily my favorite program of all time. Eventually you are going to start stalling using GreySkull LP. Once I did, I graduated to this program. It helped me squeeze out the last 5-10% of strength. Extra weight is hard fought at this stage, I missed the early days of making gains every week. I got insanely strong here, and maintained this program for years.
